이건희의 아들인 억만장자 삼성 이재용 부회장은 서울의 기자회견장에서 다음과 같이 알렸다.

저는 제 아들에게 제 역할을 물려주지 않을 계획입니다. 

이점은 제가 오랫동안 생각해온 것이지만 공식 석상에서 발표하는것을 고민 해왔습니다.

사업 환경이 어려울 뿐 더라 제 자신도 제대로 검증이 되지 않은 상태에서 자식 승계문제를 논하는 것이 무책임하다고 생각하기 때문입니다.

그의 아버지는 2014년에 심장마비로 업무가 불가능 한 상태다.

삼성은 한국의 가장 큰 대기업이다.

삼성은 대한민국 전체 경제의 약 15%를 차지하고 있다.

삼성전자는 삼성그룹의 가장 큰 부분으로 세계 스마트폰 생산사이며 메모리집과 디스플레이 스크린의 주요한 공급사다.

The billionaire Samsung vice chairman, who is the son of former chairman Lee Kun-hee, made the announcement at a press conference in Seoul on Wednesday.

"I do not plan to pass down my role to my children," the younger Lee, who is also known as Jay Y. Lee, told reporters.

"This is something I have thought about for a long time but have been hesitant to express openly. 

It was because not only is the business environment difficult, but I felt it would be irresponsible to speak on succession issues when I myself have not been properly proven yet," he added. 

His father was left incapacitated by a heart attack in 2014.

Samsung is South Korea's biggest conglomerate. 

Its combined businesses are estimated to account for around 15% of the country's entire economy. 

Samsung Electronics, the biggest part of the group, is the world's leading smartphone maker and a vital supplier of memory chips and display screens.
